Hello lovelies, I spent a lovely weekend with my friend Molly and her family in the town of Bornem located in the Belgian Countryside. I’ve known Molly from when our kids were tiny teenyboppers playing side by side in the playpen after an introduction by a mutual acquaintance, and we’ve remained friends ever since.
After my relocation to the US, Molly and I stayed in touch via social media, mainly Facebook and eventually also on Instagram. Molly studied art and has dedicated her life to her craft. She is very talented and runs a successful art gallery where she exhibits her beautiful creations.
An ardent painter, she spends her days taking care of her family, managing her art gallery and hosting functions to the delight of locals who flood her events. She’s married to her husband of 21 years, Rik, and together they have two lovely children, Lisa who just turned 18 and Wilmaire who is 11. Molly’s interests have led her to specialize in photography, painting, arts and crafts, and cooking up some of the most delicious nutritious meals I have seen.
When I see her posts pictures of her paintings, her family, their meals and their vacations, I feel inspired to create the best life I can for my family and I. In her, I see someone that has been brave enough to be true to herself and to always cultivate and follow her passion while still taking great care of her family.
She embodies the it’s-possible-to-have-it-all ubiquitous dream we all seem to pursue, some with better success than others. In a country like Belgium with all its socialistic-leaning policies geared towards encouraging families to spend time together, this elusive quest is certainly within reach for many.
This weekend we lounged out at her home where we ate, drank, drove around, watched, movies, and talked all night. We walked in the countryside and enjoyed the scenery, and goofed around taking silly pictures to preserve the memory. I hadn’t seen Molly for almost 8 years, but as always with good friends, you always pick up right where you left off.
I wish you all a good rest-of-the-week, may you achieve all you set out to accomplish. Thanks for checking in, till this weekend, Grey ?
