Hi folks! Christmas is upon us this weekend –how exciting, isn’t it? This is my first outdoor photoshoot I’ve done since I got back home this thanksgiving. I choose to use this jacket that I’ve had for several years now because green compliments the red of Christmas –with envy –Lol!
In all seriousness, I figured a green-coloured winter coat fits wonderfully into the December Christmas theme, though I do acknowledge it would have worked just as well for Saint Patrick’s Day coming up March 17th. Oh well, I suppose I could use the jacket for a shoot then too and just style it differently. Come to think of it, I welcome the challenge. I enjoy mixing and matching different pieces to create new looks so we’ll see how I fare then.
For now, I styled this jacket with a simple pencil skirt and a pair of medium-heeled black shoes. Ofcourse I’m wearing a pair of stockings, something I can no longer be caught without as it’s become part of my dressing code, come skirts or trousers/pants, rain or sunshine.
To complete this look, I carried a classic no-frills black handbag which I picked up on one of my trips abroad to Rome Italy. I already has a black pull-neck sweater and my neck was well protected from the cold, so I strapped my green scarf around my bag to tie the look together.
I always throw on a pair of sunglasses to shield my eyes from the piercing sun, the same way I’m learning to use sunscreen when going outside regardless of whether the sun is shining or not.
I rarely remember to wear jewellery; all I ever seem to have on is my watch, engagement ring and wedding band. Here I only remembered to wear my earrings, which is a shame because I have a matching emerald necklace that would have looked fabulous with this outfit.
Hubby once pinned a corkboard on the wall with pins in it for me to hang my accessories so I wouldn’t forget to wear them; this helped some but it remains a challenge. Do any of you ever forget to accessorize as often as I do? Any tricks you’ve picked along the way to accessorize better? Let me know in the comment section. ღ Helena Grey xo
