Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing fine enjoying the sunshine and this fine gift of life that we’re all so very lucky to have. It’s Friday and I’m in my hotel room in Kensington London, warm and cozy in my gown, cup of tea by my side as I type out this blogpost. It’s been a whirlwind of a visit and I have had such a lovely time browsing around the shops and cafés in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Yesterday I met up with Sonya, who I first met back in 2016 through my friend Chanel right here in Kensington. We had such a fun time wandering around Kensington, scouting locations while chatting and laughing in between. Afterwards, we sat down at a café and enjoyed a soft drink while catching up on each other’s life.
Later in the evening, I strolled up to High Street for something to eat. I ended up having dinner for one at the Raj Indian restaurant; a delicious dish of butter chicken, pilau rice, and naan bread. While the establishment was one of fine dining, there was nothing elegant about how I wolfed down my meal 🙂 On my way back I did a bit of ‘grocery’ shopping, and ended up buying the whole Cadbury’s chocolate shelf at the Waitrose supermarket. Yes, I know my adopted Belgium has the better chocolate, but nostalgia will win every single time!
Back in my hotel room, I had a bit of a pamper and settled in for a late-night, did my Bible study for the night, and drifted off to sleep. Today morning, I woke up feeling well-rested and relaxed. My friend Chanel joined me for breakfast and we chatted on for hours catching up on each other’s lives, planning future European vacation trips, until about noon when duty called for her.
London has been good to me this trip though I didn’t venture into central London this time. Quite frankly, I never do it by myself; Mr. Grey was the brave soul who dared to take on the London traffic, even by car! I played it safe and stayed to the west of the City of Westminster; after all, Kensington has a lot to offer in terms of food places, cafés, arts, and shopping areas, coupled with beautiful white architectural buildings.
Well, the day is young and I have lots of shops to visit. Yesterday while strolling up on High Street, I saw a Zara Home that I’d like to browse in a bit more, plus an M&S where I saw a few items I’d like to pick up. The weather is beautiful out here today, sunny and breezy all at the same time. It showered unexpectedly yesterday, so I better get out there now and make hay while the sun shines!! Cheers, Helena xoxo
