Air Hostess Life | Dallas for Training

3 minutes

Hi everyone, Last week I flew down to our company’s headquarters in Dallas Texas for our annual recurrent training. Out of our graduation class of 60 in 2017, there were about 15 of us scheduled to take our re-qualification tests on the same day, so it felt like a reunion of sorts, meeting everyone and getting updates on their life happenings. Some have married, others have divorced. Some are now engaged while others have had children. One was let go and three others quit -and so on and so forth.

I shared my news and I couldn’t help bursting into tears each time I had to utter that still dreadful dirty word, at least to me, a word I haven’t been able to utter in relation to myself even on these pages (and thank you all for not making me, your discretion is appreciated). Everyone gathered with helpful and not so helpful comments as we threw back shots of Korean Peach Soju. Our Nicole, cheerfully announced she had filed for divorce successfully and we all took it in stride as she introduced us to her new boyfriend -they looked so happy and so in love, and that’s all we ever want for each other -happiness. As long as she was happy, we all cheered for her.

We had dinner in a private room at the Omi Korean Cuisine Restaurant where we proceeded to share the nitty-gritties of our lives, our experiences flying, who is training to be a pilot, who is transitioning back into office work, and so on and so forth. Now that my options are widening, I think about it sometimes, transitioning back into corporate life. I couldn’t afford to think about it back then as I would have no such opportunity with the requirement that I move to whichever base city I would’ve been stationed at.

Surprisingly, landing in Dallas felt like a homecoming. DFW was my first base and everyone told me how lucky I was to get based at HQ when there was a 2-year waiting list of employees waiting to be transferred there. I remember my flight service manager telling me how lucky I was to be surrounded by so many opportunities should I never consider transitioning back into corporate life. Back then, that was the furthest thought on my mind. It’s funny how our lives can shrink down to fit within only the options and opportunities we feel our lives avail to us…

Well, this is just a brief one as I haven’t posted in about a week. I had lots of web-based training to complete before the classes so I took some time off to finish that up. Outside of that, everything is going great for me. I am in high spirits and quite excited about how my life is unfolding. I’m back on the line and this post comes to you from my Amsterdam hotel room. My son is in transit on his way back to me, we should both converge home this weekend before I send him off to campus and it’s back to work for me. God has been good and we are both happy campers -more in coming posts. Ms. Grey signing off here, cheers y’all!
